so many options

Elizabeth. I love the name. I would be quite content to have everyone only call her that. However, it is a long name and easily shortened, truly it must be the name with the most possible nicknames ever. Which is good I suppose, but until lately we’ve had a difficult time agreeing on one we both like. Liz is acceptable when she’s older, but not a name for a baby/little girl. Lizzie is more acceptable to me after being reminded that Elizabeth Bennet in Pride & Predjudice is called Lizzie - but “Lizzie McGuire” also comes to mindUndecided  Those had been daddy’s pics while mine were Beth or Ellie, the latter of which I realize does not work given her brother’s name.  Yet, recently we discovered one we both like - not Betsy, or Bette, or Bessy, Eliza, Elise…I really could go on - I was not kidding about having so many options. But the one we seem to agree on is “Libby” or “Libbie” at least I can see it for childhood - much sweeter than just “Liz” slightly less lizard-ish than Lizzie & I also like that it is more unique in that it is one of the lesser used nicknames. Still I think we’ll often use her whole name, it would be a shame I think to have such a classic and beautiful name and rarely to have it used.

our little man in the yellow hat

We had a great time tonight taking Elliot out in his costume. I can’t believe that both this morning when I took him downtown and this evening he wore the hat the whole time! Of course I should believe it - I bribed him w/ candy (what else!?) and it’s not like he has that every day!

His daddy was quite proud of all the “that’s the best costume I’ve seen” comments that we’ve got. I was proud too - given how much time I’d spent working on the costume. My MIL did a lot too so the credit should go to her too. We went to the girls dorm where at then the university where Charlie works and he got to trick-or-treat door to door there. It was cute to see him at first taking forever to choose a candy and often taking handfuls, but he got the hang of it and was very good about picking it out & putting it into the bag. I don’t have a pic of it posted, but I sowed his curious george doll to his candy bag for the full effect Laughing

I was hoping now that we’re in a neighborhood we’d have a lot of trick-or-treaters but it seems that city & church programs are really where people go now…not that I blame them. Lots of candy left over around here….that’s not a good thing for this sugar loving mama!
